Dulwich is a wonderful place to live and we want it to stay that way. Dulwich Going Greener (DGG) is a voluntary organisation that wants a greener and truly low-carbon Dulwich (SE21 & SE22) to become a reality. Our objectives are to:
- Reduce energy demand and improve energy efficiency in Dulwich homes, businesses, public buildings and transport
- Increase the uptake of renewable and low carbon technologies
- Contribute to wider initiatives to combat climate change, especially in London.
We aim to do this by:
- Raising awareness of climate change and opportunities for positive action
- Engaging with the local community and organisations to promote environmental awareness
- Advocating action on climate change in the wider London community
- Implementing projects to secure our objectives
- Using resources responsibly and sustainably.
We will measure success by
- Establishing Dulwich's carbon footprint and evaluating progress in reducing it
- Monitoring and evaluating changes in environmental values and actions in the local community
DGG was set up in September 2006 with the valuable assistance of funding from UnLtd, a charitable organisation set up by seven leading organisations that promote social entrepreneurship. DGG was founded Juliet Filose, Alpha Hopkins and Philip Stamp and is registered charity no. 1120682. As well as the founder members, the trustees are Bruno Guillaume (treasurer) and Niki Parker (secretary). Apart from funding from from UnLtd, the organisation has received money from Dulwich Community Council (London Borough of Southwark) and Southwark's Cleaner, Greener, Safer fund.
